Am I the only one still having problems with the preroll stalling out in my iPod?
October 31st, 2007 at 9:11 pm
Kurt - We’re working on a fix for that. The work around is to just skip past the pre-roll and into the show.

Favor/request to askL
WHEN (not if) you do the Magnum’s cast, please bring back the “First Drink of the Day” song for that show.
November 1st, 2007 at 10:14 am
Thanks Brian. Last night I skipped past and listened to about 1/2 the show while doling out Haloween candy, but now my iPod won’t even play it! (Play triangle is on, but nothing else happens).
November 1st, 2007 at 12:20 pm
I noticed today that winginit doesnt play on my shuffle (at all, skipping preroll doesn’t work); suppose thats the same problem that Kurt reported. (btw it sabotages playback in itunes too, hrmph)

I repaired the file with the mp3-repair function of mp3trimmer (no link ‘cuz I’m lazy but I bet you can google it)
If it helps here’s the relevant output for the error; it begins with the head of the table
POSITION | FRAME | SIZE | FRAME ENCODING INFORMATION
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
000000000000 | -- | 044100 | Skipping 44100 offset bytes (non-audio data)
| | | ( embedded JPG-image - 43739 bytes )
000000044100 | 000001 | 000313 | MPEG-1 Layer III, 44100 Hz, 96 kbit/s, Joint stereo
000000044413 | 000002 | 000314 | MPEG-1 Layer III, 44100 Hz, 96 kbit/s, Joint stereo
and so on until between frame 232 and 233:
000000116511 | 000232 | 000314 | MPEG-1 Layer III, 44100 Hz, 96 kbit/s, Joint stereo
000000116825 | -- | -- | Ignoring block of non-audio data °
000000165972 | 000233 | 000313 | MPEG-1 Layer III, 44100 Hz, 96 kbit/s, Joint stereo
000000166285 | 000234 | 000314 | MPEG-1 Layer III, 44100 Hz, 96 kbit/s, Joint stereo
and then the other frames roll on….
it ends with:
SUMMARY OF REPAIR: 1 errors found
° Block(s) of non-audio data was bypassed (misplaced ID3-tag perhaps?)
so it seems _somebody_ needs to hyperstream the phase-change multinode of the preroll ad. or something

btw the comments feed works fine for me. I use vienna.
November 1st, 2007 at 5:24 pm
I am also having an issue with the show on iTunes, after the little Podango insert at the start of the show. After it finishes, the clip just cuts and I need to manually jump it
November 1st, 2007 at 9:37 pm
My case is worse, if I try to skip the Podango clip, it simply hangs my iPod and I have to reboot it.
November 2nd, 2007 at 9:14 am
I don’t have an Ipod but a Creative player. Winging 3D, Slice and Slice VM all crash it. Right after the “powered by podango” thing it comes up with “unknown error” and crashes. Weird.
FYI that I use an RSS feed to get the mp3 file, not Itunes.
November 2nd, 2007 at 7:31 pm
As g. says, using mp3trimmer (http://deepniner.net/mp3trimmer - Mac only) seems to fix the problem. Looking at the log it would seem that the MP3 is composed of 2 MP3’s concatenated together instead of being a single encoded MP3.
November 3rd, 2007 at 8:59 am
g: i’m trying to have the comments on My.yahoo.com so that i can just look there to see if there’s new comments, i already do that for the actual show.
November 3rd, 2007 at 9:02 am
never mind. i got it to work.
November 5th, 2007 at 7:39 am
Everytime I listen to the new podroll on my new computer I get a message saying “You are about to make a Phantom Menace reference, cancel or allow.”
November 5th, 2007 at 3:54 pm
RIGHT! So I believe our issue with podango insert are fixed… can anyone confirm or deny?
November 5th, 2007 at 5:13 pm
it works for me.
November 5th, 2007 at 5:34 pm
It still craps out at the end of the race car in Itunes. Just tried show #16 and the voice mail show for #15.
November 5th, 2007 at 7:33 pm
My iTunes won’t even download episode #16.
November 6th, 2007 at 4:08 pm
Hi guys, sometimes I can’t play them, but even when I can the ID3 tagging is completely screwed - I just get a series of chinese characters show up or nothing at all. Something seriously needs to be fixed
November 6th, 2007 at 4:56 pm
I downloaded the mp3 above by hand and put it on my iPod shuffle - it now plays the show fine, and mp3trimmer does not find any errors, so I guess the problem’s fixed for me.
kthxbye
November 8th, 2007 at 10:45 pm
Still can’t download #16 in iTunes but was able to download it manually. Cthulhu goodness!
November 9th, 2007 at 3:02 pm
Now when I play the podroll the racecar says “powered by podango” and it’s Mike in the background going “Vrooom…”
